Undaunted’s genus, Muhlenbergia, honors amateur botanist Lutheran paster Gotthilf Henry Ernest Muhlenberg (1753-1815) who was quite distinguished in the field.

This grass is sometimes referred to as seep muhly but, personally, we like its official name as it isn’t intimidated by colder weather in the slightest. You’ll find this Muhly grass is hardier than many others in the genus.
